A special OPP operation focused on improving traffic safety on Highway 402 near the Blue Water Bridge has made an impact, Sarnia’s mayor says.

“You can see the difference,” said Mike Bradley.

“And I think the key thing is the message has gotten out that there is heavy enforcement on the 402, but also within the city and that makes a difference.”

Lambton OPP Aug. 15 announced operation safe approach, in response to highway congestion, in part caused by ongoing Transportation Ministry construction on the highway overpass above Rapids Parkway.

The OPP operation is focused on “unsafe and illegal driving behaviours by both commercial and passenger vehicles,” police said in a news release.
