Sixteen daily temperature records were broken across B.C. on the holiday Monday (Sept. 1), including a 97-year-old record.

The hottest spot in B.C. was Lillooet at 38.8 C, breaking the 2022 record of 35.5 C. Records have been kept in the area since 1917.

It was followed by Cache Creek at 38.3 C, breaking the previous record of 36.4 C set in 2022. Records have been kept in the area since 1944.

Lytton was the third-hottest spot at 38.2 C, breaking the old record of 36.6 C set in 2022. Records have been kept in the area since 1921.

That was followed by Kamloops with a daily high of 36.4 C, breaking the 2022 record of 35.1 C. Records have been kept in the area since 1890.

Merritt hit 35.9 C on Monday, breaking the previous record of 35.2 set in 2024. Rec
