For the second straight day, multiple B.C. communities broke heat records on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Lytton reached the highest temperature in the province, reaching 40 C, beating its 2022 record by 0.4 C. Records have been kept in the area since 1921.
Cache Creek was a close second by touching 39.3 C, breaking the previous record of 34.6 C in 2022. Records have been kept in the area since 1944.
In third, Princeton soared to 38.8 C on Tuesday, breaking a 27-year-old record of 36.5 C, which was set in 1998. Records have been kept in the area since 1893.
Next was Kelowna as temperatures reached 37.1 C. That broke the eight-year record of 36.2 C in 2017. Records have been kept in the area since 1899.
