Members of a close-knit Leicestershire community lit 63 candles tonight, each one marking a footstep on the route an 80-year-old grandfather took every day before he was killed. Bhim Kohli died on September 2 last year, a day after he was attacked by a teenage boy, while a girl filmed the assault, at Franklin Park, in Braunstone Town.
The pensioner's family held the candlelight vigil to remember Mr Kohli on the anniversary of his death. A gate to the park's allotments, where Mr Kohli had three plots, was renamed "Bhim's Gate", and a plaque was unveiled by his wife.
Mr Kohli was attacked just yards away from his home on the evening of Sunday, September 1, last year. A 15-year-old boy was later ordered to serve seven years' detention, and a 13-year-old girl was handed a three-year reha
