A homicide suspect wanted in Hattiesburg was captured more than 1,300 miles away Monday night after a traffic stop in Massachusetts, according to law enforcement officials.
George Mabrey, wanted on two counts of homicide by motor vehicle, was taken into custody in Palmer, Mass., around 9:30 p.m. after police stopped his vehicle on South Main Street for a stop sign violation.
Hampden County sheriff’s deputies assisted Palmer police during the stop. Mabrey was identified as having a warrant out of Mississippi and was arrested without incident.
He is being held without bail and awaits extradition.
