PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — Four out of five city council members in Phenix City will remain the same following last week’s election. The city certified the election of four city officials Tuesday morning.

According to Phenix City Mayor Eddie Lowe, the consistency of city leadership is a strength.

“Anytime you have stability, that only helps you even more as you continue to push the city forward,” Lowe said.

The first Monday in November, Jasponica Florence will take the seat of councilmember at large. She replaces Dr. Griff Gordy.

Florence won the race over former Phenix City Police Chief Ray Smith with a 52% majority vote.

Lowe said the council will continue working for the benefit of the city.
