PITTSBURGH, Pa. (BLACK AND GOLD NATION) - The Pittsburgh Steelers made it through training camp and the preseason with a fairly clean bill of health. However, one of their biggest injuries came in the preseason finale as first-round pick Derrick Harmon sprained his MCL against the Carolina Panthers.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin ruled the Oregon product out for Week One against the New York Jets. Tomlin added that they will replace him by committee.
Harmon is the lone rookie from this year's draft class to be anointed as a starter on the Steelers. However, with him out, fifth-round pick Yahya Black will likely be thrusted more into the lineup after an impressive summer.
