Five additional measles cases were confirmed in Mesa County last weekend, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. With that, there are now seven active measles cases in the county.
According to the state health department, two of the five new cases are individuals who were infected after contact with one or more of the initial exposure locations.
A CDPHE spokesperson said the two might have unwittingly spread the measles to others in the Grand Valley.
The other three cases are individuals who contracted the disease because they live in the same household as one of the two locals diagnosed with measles in August.
