A man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly punched a Hartselle police officer in the face.

According to the Hartselle Police Department, 26-year-old Austin Wright is charged with assault.

The incident happened about 8:16 p.m. Friday when a Hartselle Police sergeant responded to assist another officer with a disturbance call near the intersection of McGaugh Street and Cullman Street.

When they arrived, the sergeant first spoke with the person who had made the call to law enforcement. The caller stated Wright verbally harassed her and threw a container of buttermilk on her property, ultimately saying she wanted officers to formally trespass Wright from her property.

Police say, while the sergeant attempted to issue the trespass warning, Wright became increasingly agitated. Wright
