Wild weather toppled a tree in Riverside Tuesday morning, and the felled tree damaged a home and caused a power outage.
Chuck Tasker, spokesperson for the Riverside Fire Department, said the tree in the 6600 block of Mt. Whitney Avenue fell at about 8:45 a.m. during a 90-minute period of rain and strong winds.
No one was hurt, but the tree fell onto a home, displacing its residents. Additionally, it disrupted power in the area.
"I thought it was an earthquake," resident Breanne Juarez told KTLA's Chip Yost.
Juarez added that she gathered her pet dog and some belongings and left the structure at that point.
"My neighbors came and ran to see if I was OK," she said. "Water was flowing down into the house, the fire alarm was going off. I'm going to cry again."
