CALEDONIA, Mich — Some community members in Caledonia are rallying behind teachers in the local school district while a new contract is still being finalized.

The Caledonia Community Schools District is still working towards a final teacher contract agreement with the Caledonia Education Association, even though the school year has already begun and the previous contract was up in July.

"Caledonia teachers negotiations started back in April because their contract was up and they still have not come to an agreement," said Brittany Thomas, a concerned parent of two children in the district. "And it's caused a lot of, I would say, like a lot of issues and pain and suffering for the teachers.
