CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The father of , who was fatally shot by Cleveland Heights police last year, has filed a federal lawsuit against three officers who he claims used excessive force in the death of his son.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court, comes just weeks after a Cuyahoga County grand jury issued a no bill in the case against the officers following an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Cleveland Heights officials say the officers returned to duty after an extended leave during the investigation, resuming work under a “lightly modified assignment.”
