PAINESVILLE, Ohio — A Grand River man has been sentenced to 22 to 27 years in prison in connection with a double overdose case that happened in Mentor in March 2024.
Tyrese Johnson was sentenced Aug. 26 by Lake County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey W. Ruple after being convicted on two counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of corrupting another with drugs, one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, one count of tampering with evidence, and one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.
The case stemmed from a Mentor Police Department investigation after two people died from overdoses in March 2024. Prosecutors said Johnson supplied the drugs that caused the deaths and tried to conceal his involvement.
