WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Eastern States Exposition has awarded a grant to the West Springfield Police Department to upgrade equipment for The Big E fair, which attracts over a million attendees annually.

The grant will provide the police department with new technology, including upgraded computers and printers, enhancing their ability to manage the large crowds during the fair. This initiative aims to improve traffic safety and streamline operations for both fair visitors and residents.

"It helps us immensely, it helps our efficiency," said Chief Jay Gearing of the West Springfield Police Department. "It'll allow the officers to stay on the streets and do those reports rather than reporting back to the station to do those reports."
