DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A new movie theater is coming to downtown Durham, but it won't be showing your typical blockbusters.

The building at 118 West Parrish Street is around 100 years old and currently under renovation. Co-owner Jim Haverkamp hopes it'll offer something Durham residents haven't seen before.

"We have great theaters, there's another great theater downtown," Haverkamp said. "But I feel like there's room for other voices and no one theater can show all of the great stuff that's out there."

With 60 seats, Skin and Bones Theater will primarily offer independent movies, cult classics, documentaries and films from local artists.

But Haverkamp said, sometimes, they'll host plays, readings and music.
