For the first time since the school’s inception, Notre Dame High School is admitting girls to their West Haven campus.
The formerly all-boy school was established in 1946 by the brothers of the Holy Cross.

This year, Notre Dame admitted 40 freshman girls and 10 sophomore transfers.
Brian Miller, the chair of Notre Dame’s board of directors, said a lot of thought and analysis went into the decision to become a co-ed school.
“It wasn’t an overnight decision, we had strategic planning committees going together, board of directors, the brothers of the Holy Cross, parents, alumni, some students took a hard look at it and we decided it was the best direction," Miller said.
