NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - A locally-owned Mexican restaurant in Newburgh has closed their doors.

Don Juan Authentic Mexican Grill announced Tuesday will be their last day in business.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our restaurant, our small family business. Today is our last day open,” they shared on Facebook.

According to restaurant owners, their landlord unexpectedly terminated their lease in order to redevelop the property for a new tenant.

“We feel this is a very unfair situation,” they say. “We are very grateful for your support and loyalty; especially to our daily customers and those who come a few times per week.”

Owners say they are currently searching for a new space so they can serve the customers in the future.

They say if they do, they will reopen
