CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Newly obtained court documents revealed new details regarding a man accused of leaving homemade bombs at a Capitol Heights fire station.
Slater Chaia of District Heights was arrested last month after police say he placed homemade bombs near Fire Station 805 on Aug. 13.
Court documents detailed the homemade bombs as "makeshift Molotov cocktails," made up of plastic bottles containing an ignitable liquid and a wick.
According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video showed a person approaching the station just before 8 a.m. that day and leaving two bottles near the station's flag pole.
"The suspect then moved the two bottles, placing one on the front ramp and one in the mailbox on the property," the complaint reads.
The suspect was then seen walking away.
