In the bottom of the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game between the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians, Roman Anthony grabbed his side after striking out. He was removed from the game and replaced by Nate Eaton.
The team announced that Anthony left the game with left oblique tightness. Earlier this season, Anthony missed time with back tightness. The outfielder said this injury felt more severe .
“This is definitely worse, in terms of the way it feels. That’s right now, and I have to reevaluate where I’m at tomorrow and see where we are when the MRI comes back,” Anthony said.
Anthony’s injury earlier this season didn’t require a stint on the injured list. He wasn’t willing to rule that out this time around.
