COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A stretch of Northbound North Academy Boulevard was closed after a vehicle crash reportedly impacted a fire hydrant Tuesday evening.

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) said North Academy was closed between Half Turn Road and North Carefree Circle, just south of Austin Bluffs Parkway.

At 5:56 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department said a sinkhole was occurring in the area.

According to CSU, some customers in the area could experience a water outage as crews worked to complete repairs.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area while crews work on repairs.
