BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Biloxi’s budget talks took a dramatic turn Tuesday night after city council members discovered they were misled by a budget sheet provided by the mayor’s office.

The city’s projected revenue is at the heart of the problem. Last week, the number provided to council members was inflated by $2 million. That’s because it included the mayor’s failed proposal to raise taxes. Apparently, the council was not informed of that.

Ward Two Councilman Anthony Marshall called out Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich during Tuesday’s meeting.

“The budget you presented already included $2 million in income from a tax millage that we never voted on,” Marshall said.

“Well, it’s up to you to decide,” the mayor began to reply.
