OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - The YMCA natatorium is like a second home to Marie Mullen. She’s been teaching swim lessons there for 30 years.
“This pool offers so much. It’s been a part of my life for quite a while,” Mullen said.
The YMCA said it’s spending $3.5 million to renovate the place with a new pool, a new roof and windows.
The organization said the more than 50-year-old natatorium has reached the end of its life span. Mullen said she agrees.
“It needs the upgrades. We have swim teams who come here. We have people who come here for recreation and exercise,” she said.
With the new indoor pool comes an improved filtration system as well as an entry slope for seniors or anyone with disabilities.
Ocean Springs resident Skip Rhodes said that the pool will only add to what the YM
