SILVER BAY, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The National President of the VFW Auxiliary is touring the country to talk to veterans organizations, and a recent stop took her to Silver Bay.

Coral the Dog was a part of the welcoming committee to the Silver Bay State Veterans Home, along with a few other dogs and a cat.

“They love having animals here, and it makes it more homey, more part of their building, makes it feel like someplace you can live,” said Randall Walz, who is director of the facility.

Last week, Coral approved the presence of the National VFW Auxiliary President Lois Callahan of Arkansas and State of Minnesota President Julie Stoehr of Tower.

“The mission of the VFW Auxiliary is to honor and serve and advocate for veterans,” said Callahan.
