SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. - A driver died after a crash early Monday morning near Shelby Farms Park, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

SCSO said it happened just before 1 a.m. on Smythe Farm Road near Walnut Grove. The driver ran off the road and struck a tree before the car caught on fire, the sheriff's office said.

The driver died on scene, SCSO said.

The sheriff's office did not release further details, including what led to the crash, except to say that the investigation was ongoing.
