MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An inmate at the Shelby County Department of Corrections stabbed a corrections officer, according to court records.

The officer said 21-year-old Quinton McNeil became upset and started throwing feces out of the security window of his cell door while the officer brought the inmates breakfast on June 9.

Court records state that McNeil told the officer, "I'm tired of these folks playing with me!" and then stabbed the officer in the arm through the security window as the officer attempted to close the flap.

Months earlier, authorities claim McNeil stabbed his cellmate. That stabbing happened on April 12, 2025. The same officer who would allegedly be stabbed by McNeil months later responded to that call. He said he heard the stabbed cellmate banging on the door and yelling,
