SHREVEPORT, La. -- It looks like Speaker of the House Mike Johnson could face some Democratic opposition in Louisiana’s Congressional District 4 in next year’s election.
Democrat Conrad Cable says he is jumping into next year's congressional race.
When KTBS spoke with Cable he referred to himself as the "farmer from Farmersville" and grows vegetables in Union Parish. To face Johnson head-on, he would have to win in the closed Democratic primary next spring — the first closed primary in Louisiana in years.
Cable kicked off his campaign over the Labor Day weekend and said he has already raised about $10,000 and has hundreds of campaign volunteers. Cable has an English degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe and believes his background would serve him well in D.C.
