HAUGHTON, La. -- Construction of a 5r-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 80 in Bossier Parish is progressing ahead of schedule, state highway officials said. The $8.4 million project started in April. The work zone stretches from Flat River near Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City to Merrywoods Boulevard in Haughton. The work includes full-depth patching to repair and strengthen sections of the roadway base, milling to remove the old asphalt, new asphalt paving on the entire length of the project, permanent striping and signage, and other related work. Originally slated to wrap up early next year, the contractor is currently ahead of schedule and anticipates completing the project next month.
