AUSTIN, Texas — A legislative effort to ban THC in Texas has stalled after hours of negotiations between top state officials failed to produce an agreement.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced that no resolution was reached with Gov. Greg Abbott and House Speaker Dustin Burrows on the proposed ban. Patrick, who has long advocated for a total ban on the cannabis-derived compound, said his position remains unchanged. He praised Abbott's efforts and thanked Republican House members who supported the ban during the regular session.
With no resolution on the matter, Patrick said the Senate would adjourn tonight after passing final bills related to the July 4 flooding. This move leaves the future of THC legislation in Texas uncertain.
