ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Officials have released more details about the RV crash that caused a significant traffic backup on Interstate 20 on Labor Day .
Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the single-vehicle crash involving a 2015 RV happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, on I-20 near mile marker 147 in St. Clair County near Moody.
That’s when ALEA said a tire on the RV, driven by a Texas resident, blew out causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into a guardrail.
The Moody Fire Department said the impact caused fuel lines to leak and that started a fire inside of the RV.
No further information was provided by ALEA, but the crash remains under investigation.
