The Mesilla Valley Film Society will present a special screening of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Fountain Theatre, 2469 Calle de Guadalupe in Mesilla.

The 1994 cult classic stars Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp, who died Aug. 17 at age 87. The film follows two drag performers and a transgender woman as they journey across the Australian Outback in a glitter-covered bus. Critics hailed it for its exuberant style and groundbreaking representation, "Priscilla" became an unexpected international hit and helped bring LGBTQ+ stories into the mainstream of culture.
