KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Bill Williams is a name widely known in east Tennessee. WBIR's anchor emeritus died last month at the age of 91. During his time at WBIR, he helped more than 1,000 children get adopted through his Monday's Child feature.
Terri "Tee" Teague was adopted in 1991, a few months after her Monday's Child special aired. She credits Bill Williams for helping her find her forever home, and now she wants to help a puppy do the same. She said Bill Williams was more than an anchor, he's the reason she's alive today.
"He saved my life when I was 8 years old by finding finding me my forever home," she said.
Teague said during her interview for the segment, she remembers feeling nervous but Bill was there to help. Teague said she tried to run away and ended up hitting a water fount
