A Labour veteran has been handed a key role by party leader Anas Sarwar for the Scottish Parliament election campaign . ‌

MP Douglas Alexander has been appointed co-chair as Labour tries to win at Holyrood for the first time in over twenty years . ‌

Alexander is in his second stint as an MP after he represented a seat in Paisley during the Tony Blair and Gordon Brown years . ‌

He entered the Cabinet under Blair but was also a key figure in Labour’s election wins of that era.
