Transport police are hunting a blond-haired man after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted on an Edinburgh train.

British Transport Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was travelling between Edinburgh Waverley and Aberdeen on Sunday, August 25, before she was reportedly sexually assaulted.

The incident took place between 9pm and 9.30pm and the man responsible is described as being in his 40s or 50s with dirty blond hair. He was wearing a pink shirt and beige shorts.

Several members of the public noted the distress of the teenager and stepped in to help her, and the man was removed from the train at Inverkeithing.

Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
