September 3, 2015 – Angie Lauderbaugh, the Bemidji school district’s homeless liaison, won the Bemidji Education Association’s Teacher of the Year award. In her acceptance speech, she noted that a district program qualified 280 students as homeless last year, but the number of students in need is closer to 350.

September 3, 2000 – As demolition work on the Edgewater Motel, 1015 Paul Bunyan Drive NE, excavators uncovered the old B and E Cafe and bait shop. Dating to the 1940s and 50s, menu prices for food include steak for 40 cents, a hamburger or french fries for 20 cents and a sundae for a quarter.
