GILBERT, Ariz. — We're learning about a life-changing second chance for former inmates.

John Engelstad with Awake Window and Door Company in Gilbert said he wants to give people a job opportunity regardless of their background. The chief operating officer said he employs 100 people, 55% of whom are former inmates.

Employees tell 12News they appreciate having a chance to re-enter society.

"It means the world," Dakota Bright said. "There's a lot of companies out there that have kind of turned away from us.”

Bright went from being incarcerated for four and a half years due to drug issues to rebuilding his life at Awake.
