PHOENIX — Two Phoenix police officers were hospitalized Tuesday following a shooting south of the Arizona Capitol building.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a shooting reported in the area of 17th Avenue and Buckeye Road in central Phoenix that resulted in two officers sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

A male suspect was also taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound, police said.

The shooting occurred as officers were serving a search warrant in the area. Police said multiple have been detained.

Phoenix Police Chief Matt Giordano said the injured officers are doing "good" and he's hoping for a speedy recovery.

The incident remains under investigation.
