MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Police in Montgomery County responded to a collision on Wednesday morning.

Details are limited; however, the incident reportedly involved downed wires that required Frederick Road to shut down in both directions at Brink Road.

In a post on X, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service noted that a vehicle had struck the utility pole. That's when the pole snapped, bringing some wires down.

He added that one person was taken to the hospital.

Drivers are asked to travel a different route and follow police directions in this area. Crews are working on clean-up, and recovery operations are underway.

Officials noted that roads will be closed for an extended time.
