School started Tuesday, and I am again here to help the confused, the wondering and the uninformed. These would be the parents.
Their children — especially the youngest — face at least 12 years of “education” at the mercy of whatever their respective school boards (and the provincial government) want them to learn.
Apparently, this also means what adults don’t want them to know.
That this is unfair is one of life’s bald truths. Recently, such literary masterpieces as Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby — and almost 200 others — have been pulled from Edmonton’s school libraries because they contain “explicit” sexual content.
