Florida is set to end all vaccine mandates in the state, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo announced Wednesday.
The announcement was made at a news conference where DeSantis cited "medical freedom" for the move, while Ladapo compared vaccines to "slavery."
"Every last one of them is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery," Ladapo said. "Who am I as a man standing here to tell you what you should put in your body? Who am I to tell you what your child should put in your body?"
For decades, the state has required several vaccines for kids attending school, including shots that protect against measles, polio, chicken pox and hepatitis B.
