WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - A DeFuniak Springs man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly threatened a family with a machete during a burglary.

According to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, deputies had responded to a call for a burglary in progress in DeFuniak Springs.

WCSO said that when deputies arrived, they encountered 29-year-old Logan Lavern McVay holding a machete. They were able to secure the weapon without injuries.

Deputies discovered that McVay allegedly entered a neighbor's shed without permission to charge electronic devices.

WCSO said that McVay became aggressive when confronted by the owner and allegedly threw an object that hit the victim, made threats to the victim and his family while he held a machete and yelled racial slurs.
