PHOENIX – Dozens of dogs were rescued from deplorable conditions on Tuesday as part of an investigation into an alleged West Valley puppy mill, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The MCSO Animal Crimes Unit found 71 dogs, including one that was dead, while serving a search warrant at a home near Jackrabbit Trail and Camelback Road in Litchfield Park.

Detectives are waiting for blood work and vet reports before pursuing arrests in the case.

MCSO posted disturbing video (WARNING: graphic images) showing dogs penned up in crates and filthy conditions throughout the residence. The footage includes images of young puppies as well as what appears to be a dog’s skeletal remains.
