Jones County Sheriff’s Department officials say a routine day turned into an animal rescue mission when a kitten was found trapped inside a car engine compartment. (note to self: check car engine compartments before driving)
On Tuesday, Deputy Melisa Kelland and Grants Administrator Lance Chancellor responded after hearing faint meows coming from a running vehicle parked near the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Driver’s License Bureau and the JCSD Training Center.
Without the driver realizing, a kitten had apparently hitched a ride in the engine compartment of the passenger car. Once the vehicle was turned off, Deputy Kelland climbed underneath and was able to carefully reach the terrified animal.
