Scientists at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), part of City of Hope, have identified two proteins contained in exosomes cast off from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) that could be used as biomarkers for earlier detection of the disease and monitoring treatment response. The study, published in the British Journal of Cancer , found that exosomes containing the proteins ALPPL2 and THBS2 could be used to distinguish PDAC cases from noncancerous pancreatic cysts with high sensitivity and specificity.
