Puget Sound Energy has started construction on a 142-megawatt solar project in southeast Washington that can power 30,000 homes, the utility company said Wednesday.

The project is expected to come online at the end of 2026, in line with the timeline the utility shared last year. The “Appaloosa” solar project will be located within the utility’s existing Lower Snake River wind facility and make use of existing transmission, according to the utility.
