Citrus County Sheriff's Office Investigation Leads To Arrest Of 19

Crystal River Man Arrested

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A Crystal River teen was taken into custody yesterday, September 2, on 11 counts of possession of child pornography. The arrest of 19-year-old Caleb Wayne Trantham was the culmination of a lengthy investigation by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.

Detective Ben Wilson initiated the investigation after receiving a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip indicated the transfer of suspected child pornography files via the application Kik. Utilizing digital forensics, Detective Wilson secured warrants and determined that Trantham was the owner of the account.
