The Renton Police Department reports that a man died after drowning at Gene Coulon Beach Park while trying to flee officers.

According to the Renton Police, just after noon Saturday, Aug. 30, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle at Gene Coulon Beach Park, 1201 Lake Washington Blvd. N. According to police, two people, a male and a female, left the car and both entered the water to evade the officers.

Officers subsequently pulled the female out of the water and detained her, but the male slipped under the water and drowned, according to police. Renton Police reported the man as 43 years old.
