A 41-year-old man screamed at another man that he “should be deported” and then punched him in the face on a sidewalk in Portland’s Old Town on Sunday, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County.

Josue Osiris Chavez-Keymolen faces charges of first-degree bias crime, fourth-degree assault and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, court records show.

Chavez-Keymolen started yelling at the man on the sidewalk in front of the Roseland Theater, court records allege. The victim took off his headphones to hear what Chavez-Keymolen was saying, and he claimed he heard the man say that he was a “Mexican and he should be deported.”

The court documents don’t say whether the two men knew each other.
