DULUTH — With a potentially season-defining test looming in week three against eighth-ranked Minnesota State Mankato, it would be easy for Minnesota Duluth to look past its next opponent, Concordia-St. Paul, on Saturday at Sea Foam Stadium.
UMD head coach Curt Wiese urged caution against their overconfidence, citing the week-to-week nature of the ever-competitive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
“We’ve been on the outside looking in for the playoff race the last couple of years, and we understand what’s at stake each week,” said Wiese. “We stress to our guys every day that, hey, we have to show up regardless of our opponent and what you have coming up next week…"
The two teams enter the matchup on vastly different trajectories in light of their week one results.
