First step toward ‘dumping DTE’ could go to Ann Arbor voters in 2026 election

ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor voters may be asked in 2026 to take a first step toward a takeover of DTE Energy in the city.

Grassroots group Ann Arbor for Public Power announced Tuesday, Sept. 2, it plans to move forward with collecting over 5,000 petition signatures to put the question to city voters in the November 2026 election once the language is approved.
