ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The talk of training camp at wide receiver showed up in a big way for Michigan on Saturday.

Channing Goodwin, a redshirt freshman who emerged as one of the three starters at wideout for the Wolverines, found himself on the receiving end of the team’s longest pass play in its 34-17 win over New Mexico.

Late in the second quarter, with Michigan facing third-and-14, Goodwin found himself open on a simple post route and hauled in a dart from quarterback Bryce Underwood for a 39-yard pickup.

Not only was it the longest completion play of the game, but it surpassed any completion by the Wolverines in 2024.

“We executed in practice,” Goodwin said Tuesday. “The game is the same thing. Catch the ball and make a play.”
